Above: Mixing with the custom cabinets are a slate floor, white “brick” subway tiles, and an old standby that looks fresh again: Uba Tuba granite counters.

Above: The visor hood vents above through metal grilles in the door above. Seeded glass and bronze pulls add interest to the fir doors, which were carefully stained to even out the color of the raw wood (below), then antiqued by hand.

Below: The fridge has a panel door. An old dumbwaiter was reclaimed as a pantry closet that stores all the dry goods, leaving the wall cabinets to hold dishes.
