I love working on rooms for children and teens. It takes forethought to make a space that suits their particular personality and current age, while remaining flexible enough to change as they grow – particularly true when investing in a bigger expense like a bathroom.

Below: Here’s an example of a bathroom that was designed to change over time: When we renovated it was shared by an older brother and his sister, and needed to be gender neutral (top two photos). But we anticipated that it would later shift to being used only by a teenage girl when the brother went off to college (second row of photos).
